PATTERN BLOCK STORIES [From: Stories/Poems]

2-5 years

Activity Summary:

Young children can create objects and animals using pattern blocks. They can they write stories based on their creations.

What You Need:

•pattern blocks
•white paper
•construction paper
•crayons
•pencil

What You Do:

  1. Have children create something with the pattern blocks such as a butterfly, bat, boat, boy, etc. They get surprisingly creative on their own.

  2. Once they have created their objects, help them trace the images onto white construction paper.

  3. Cut pictures out and paste them onto construction paper.

  4. Let children dictate a story to you about their drawings.
